Austin has become somewhat of a melting pot due to people from all over the country moving here to Texas where home prices are still lower than most of the country.  Within the city of Austin, $125K is close to the least expensive home you can find, so I’d consider the $125K-$175K range to be the most affordable here.  One neighborhood where you’ll find homes in this range is Canterbury Trails.  I recently listed a desirable home in this neighborhood, for the price of $165K.  This 3 bedroom home has a nice street appeal, Pergo flooring in the family room, and high quality tile in the entryway, kitchen, sunroom and utility room.  The backyard features a large covered patio with a built-in BBQ grill/outdoor kitchen area.  While many of the affordable homes have maintenance or updating needs, this home is in excellent condition!  You can see details of this home or go to my website to search for other Austin area homes for sale.
